Image The Altoona Area Public Library welcomes Janine Schmitt of Altoona as the Young Adult Artist of the Month.

My name is Janine Schmitt and I am a 2010 graduate of Altoona Area High School/Greater Career & Technology Center-Visual Arts Technology Class. Art has always been a passion of mine and my favorite mediums to use are colored pencils and acrylic paint.

My interests are illustration and painting. All though I like to do a variety of art and art projects, my favorite subject to draw is animals, especially dogs.

I will be attending Penn State this fall and will continue with my art in hope of an art career as an art activities aide or an illustrator.

Janine's art is located on the 2nd floor balcony of the Library and may be viewed through August 31 during regular Library hours.

Executive Director Deborah A. Weakland (middle) and Karen Smith (Altoona Library Board Vice President) were delighted to accept a check for $1,000 from Tim Sissler (President of Reliance Bank). The donation from Reliance Bank's Foundation will be used to purchase library materials. Reliance Bank's generous support is greatly appreciated especially this fiscal year when funds are so tight. The Library is very fortunate to have consistent community support from organizations like Reliance Bank.
