A unique way to leave a lasting tribute.
Book Memorials
A memorial book donation is a beautiful way to remember a loved one, friend, or relative who has passed away. If you wish to have a book placed in memory of someone, a $30.00 minimum is required.
For a book, a plate will be inserted in the book with the name of the person who has passed away, and will include the name of the contributor. The family of the person is notified by mail. Donations of any amount toward our book funds are gratefully accepted. For more information please call 814-946-0417 ex 120.
Honorarium
An Honorarium is a thoughtful way to honor a loved one, friend, relative, colleague, or organization or celebrate a special occasion such as a birth, marriage, anniversary, retirement, promotion, etc.
If you wish to have a book placed in honor of someone, a $30.00 minimum is required. For books, a plate will be inserted in the book with the name of the person honored, and will also include the name of the contributor. After your donation, the family of the person honored will be notified by mail. Donations of any amount toward our book fund are gratefully accepted.
Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Altoona Library support programs and activities of the Library by raising money and volunteering their time. They hold a used book sale twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall. Profits support programs and activities at the library. The Friends present the proceeds from their trust fund and money from their general fund to the Library each year for materials and programming. Last year the Friends donated over $50,000 to the Library.
The Friends hold a Membership Teas in September and May with presentations from guest speakers. They also present monthly evening programs on a variety of topics. The membership drive is open all year. For more information, please contact the library at 814-946-0417.
